7. Acoustic Panels Are Ugly

At times, people try and avoid the use of acoustic panels, as they fear they’re ugly. However, Acoustic panelling is anything but. Panels can be fully customised and unique to the customer. They can be printed on a variety of fabrics, colours and shapes. Here at UK Acoustic Systems, we believe that the use of Acoustic Panels can in fact make a room look more decorative and appealing whilst absorbing airborne noise.

6. Installing The Product Will Be Easy

At times, a ‘do it yourself job’ can be enough. However, with more complex products, doing it yourself can be risky. On a few occasions, especially within the commercial sector, our expertise has been called upon to repair, or in some cases completely restart the project which has unfortunately gone wrong for the contractor. 5. I Hope

People hope that irritating sounds and loud noises will get better over time. People often hope it will become background noise and learn to live with it. 4. The Carpet Will Do The Job, right?

Our acoustic technicians are always being asked this question.. ‘Screwing or nailing the carpet down will make the floor soundproof right?’ In fact, carpets may enhance acoustical properties such as absorption but this is extremely minimal. We have a variety of products suitable to be laid prior to the final floor finish. Our technicians will be happy to assist.

3. I’ll Plug The Soundproofing In

Some individuals believe soundproofing is an electronic device, which absorbs any unwanted noise. This would be extremely cool to have, however, this isn’t the case (at the moment).

2. An Extra Layer Of Paint Will Work

An extra layer of paint will soundproof the room right? No, no, no! Paint could “help”… but only if you used 10inch thick lead!

2nd myth: An extra layer of paint will work

1. Nail The Underlay On The Wall

If soundproof floors work, can’t I just nail the floor underlay to the walls/doors to soundproof them too? Believe it or not, this is a common question. However, each area within a room requires different levels of acoustical properties. Our acoustic consultants can provide advice and technical support for soundproofing walls/doors.

The only acoustic paint readily available would be an acoustic spray plaster, which is a sound absorption solution. The acoustic spray plaster works by allowing sound to travel through the system and absorbing the sound via an acoustic wool, therefore not reflecting the noise back.
